Camp Kala, a ultra-exclusive lodge experience situated right next to a very busy waterhole in the 34,000 ha Onguma Nature Reserve in Namibia.
This exclusive lodge was designed by Nick Plewman architects and the interior design was executed by Fox Browne Creative. This creative combination guarantees a special and exclusive space, style and experience

Elevated on wooden decks, with panoramic views over one of Onguma’s most beautiful and prolific waterholes is the new Onguma Camp Kala. With its conical, mud plastered central tower resembling a termite mound and the whole camp elevated on wooden stilts, it blends in with its surroundings and immediately calms the soul. The Impeccable and discreet butler service is designed to pamper guests and make you feel welcome, appreciated and at home.

It doesn’t get much more exclusive than this. Camp Kala consists of only four guest Suites linked by raised walkways. Although the lodge is perfect for exclusive use for 8 adult guests, the 4 suites can also be booked individually. Spacious and private, the open-plan suites have sumptuous twin or king-sized beds with a normal air-conditioning unit or, if you decide to sleep with open doors, a state-of-the-art air-cooling system cooling only the bed area. The comfortable seating area is equipped with a fully stocked personal bar. The beautiful bathroom with bespoke double vanities, full-size bathtub and generous shower has full views over the busy water hole just meters away.

Camp Kala is centred around a busy waterhole with game viewing from numerous vantage points to take it all in – be it the comfortable lounge, the cool and secluded hide, the intimate cocktail bar or the beautiful deck, which is sunny by day and warmed by a fire pit at night. The dining area has an open chef’s kitchen and all-day pantry to ensure everyone feels right at home. For guests who want to be more active there is a fully equipped gym, whilst those who want to relax, can while away the hours in comfort in the ground-level photographic hide, enjoy a massage in the spa room or practice yoga on the yoga deck.

Each suite has its own private deck with wood fired hot tub for those chilly romantic nights and plunge pool to cool off on very hot days. Follow the walkway to your own private, shaded sala with a king-size outdoor day bed – perfectly placed for an armchair safari or to ‘sleep out’ under the stars.
Activities are all exclusively custom tailored and based on the greater Onguma Reserve, allowing the opportunity to get off your vehicle and explore nature with your guide. Traditional trips into Etosha are also available.
